Delta AOPSHON Chairman Mesere Lauds Gov. Oborevwori's Strides In Education

The Chairman of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) , Delta State Chapter, Comr. Edward Mesere has commended the State Governor, Rt.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori administration's strategic efforts and initiatives towards repositioning the education system.
Comr. Mesere, who made the commendaton on the occasion of their 2026 Quadrennial Delegate Conference of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria held at the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, stated that the state government had been improving on the school infrastructure and distribution of learning materials.
He also said that training and restraining of teachers, especially on ICT , the introduction of clocking machines by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) were aimed at ensuring effective service delivery and expressed gratitude to the state government for its approval for primary school teachers to rise to the same level with their counterparts in secondary schools.
Comr. Mesere reiterated that his administration was saddled with the responsibility of repositioning and laying a solid foundation for a better service delivery, recalling that their association's acronym 'AOPSHON show the light ' was founded upon a premise of dedication, integrity, professional values , discipline and leadership without border.
The State AOPSHON Chairman explained that every appointed head teacher in public primary school was a bonafide member of the association and must be committed to the association's ideology, just as he urged all head teachers to continue to show loyalty to their mother union which is the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).
While saying that his association has cordial relationship with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board, Comr. Mesere appreciated the past and present leadership of NUT in the State for their unwavering support to his administration in the past four years.
He described the death of the association's secretary, late Mr. Ogbo as sad and devastating, adding that he was a trusted and dependable comrade, unionist and pragmatic scribe .
Comr. Mesere stated that Delta State occupies vantage positions at the National and EDOLOOKOE region, noting that the National Deputy President of AOPSHON, Master of Ceremony of the association and EDOLOOKOE treasurer were all members of the Delta State Chapter of the association.
He highlighted some of the challenges confronting the association to include insecurity in schools, insufficient running cost/subvention, poor funding of primary education, constant vandalism of school due to lack of parameter fences and uneven distribution of teachers between urban and rural areas among other issues.
Earlier, the Chief Inspector of Education in charge of Uvwie local government area , Mrs. Mercy Ogban, who represented the State Commissioner for Primary Education, Chief (Mrs.) Rose Ezewu thanked AOPSHON for their invaluable contributions and commitment towards effective school management and quality of teaching and learning outcomes.
She reminded the association of the expectations from the delegates conference was to transform stakeholders and the association at all times.
