Voice of the People: Popular Chief Engr. Joe Omene Set To Celebrate 80th Birthday in Grand Style

The grand celebration of the 80th birthday of a revered Urhobo leader, elder statesman, and _Voice of the People_, Chief Engr. Joe Orode Omene, the Ejorhofo of Mosogar Kingdom will witness the presence of the who is who in Nigeria. 
The octogenarian, a former President General of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) and a vocal advocate for equity, justice, fairness and Urhobo unity, will mark the milestone on, Saturday, June 20th, 2026.

A colourful reception ceremony will hold at his country home in Mosogar, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, featuring traditional Urhobo dances, cultural displays and tributes from dignitaries across Nigeria.
Described by many as fearless, principled, and a grassroots mobilizer, Chief Joe Omene is widely respected for speaking truth to power.  As UPU President General, he championed the Urhobo interest during critical periods, earning him the title " _Voice of the People_ ".
Also expected to grace the grand 80th birthday are top government functionaries, captains of industries, top government appointees, old boys association, youth group amongst others. The celebration will reflect Chief Omene's simplicity, culture, and love for his people.

Speaking to Sapele Mirror Magazine ahead of the celebration, Chief Omene thanked God for life and urged Urhobos to remain united.
"At 80, I am fulfilled because I have served my people with a clear conscience. My appeal is for us to love one another and protect the heritage of Urhobo land".
