Impactful two of the 34 years of Delta

 

It has been said and rightly so that effective leadership and service are intertwined concepts that prioritizes the needs of the people above personal gains.

 

True to this concept, the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, in just two years, has redefined the perception of service delivery by Government to a level which many thought was only existent in the pantheon of the gods. From well paved roads to a web of interconnecting bridges that connect people and dreams, from schools and hospitals with entrapments fit only for palaces to various empowerment programmes, the achievements of Governor Sheriff pulsates through the labyrinth of Delta like a mosaic of joyful colours.

 

Unsurprisingly, and probably because an apple does not fall far from it's trunk,  Hon. Etacherure Ejiro Terry, the Honourable Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, following after the footsteps of the Governor has brought excellence to bear on all projects under the auspices of the Bureau. This much is reflected in the modern concept for Fire Stations, which are now self energized through Solar power to ensure the quick mobilization of trucks and safety of lives and properties of allresidents of the State.

 

Through the injection of new ideas and the strengthening of the institutions that manage disaster, the Governor's vision for a safer and more prosperous Delta State is being steadily midwifed by the agencies of the Bureau.

 

In addition to redefing the physical infrastructure of the Fire and Emergency management agencies, victims of different forms of disaster are now promptly and adequately provided with succour and supported to get back on their feet. A back log of relief has been disbursed to victims of disaster in Ndokwa East, Isoko South, Oshimili South, Bomadi, Patani and other LGAs. With swift approvals from the Governor, the Bureau has delivered food items, beddings and other essentials within days of disasters occurring. These are not just token gestures, they are consistent structured interventions that happen almost every month.

 

As Delta State continues to grow under the M.O.R.E agenda, the Bureau for Special Duties stands out as a vital pillar of safety and compassion.  Let us join hands to support this administration and ensure that our State continues to grow and prosper.
