The Edward Ederaine Global Foundation has continued its laudable intervention in basic education and child welfare with the distribution of free meals to pupils of Umiaghwa Primary School, located in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a move that warmed the hearts of many, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Okakuro Edward Ederaine, paid a surprise visit to the school to personally serve food to the pupils, underscoring his commitment to grassroots humanitarian efforts. The food distribution initiative, which has been running for several months now, is part of the foundation’s “School Feeding and Wellness Support Program,” aimed at boosting school attendance, reducing hunger, and encouraging learning among vulnerable children in rural communities.
The pupils, who were visibly excited, could hardly contain their joy upon sighting the philanthropic figure behind the daily meals they have come to look forward to. Chants of “Thank you, Okakuro!” echoed across the school compound as pupils lined up with their plates, many of them seeing the founder for the first time.

Speaking during the outreach, Okakuro Edward Ederaine expressed his delight at the impact the program has made so far. According to him, the feeding initiative was inspired by his passion to reduce child hunger and promote education in underserved communities. “No child should be in school on an empty stomach. A hungry child cannot learn,” he said. “It brings me great joy to see the smiles on these children’s faces. They deserve care, dignity, and the opportunity to grow into their full potential.”
The head teacher of the school, while receiving the foundation team, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to Okakuro Ederaine for his consistency and uncommon gesture. “This is not just a feeding program. It is a life-changing experience for many of these children. Some of them come to school because they know they will eat. Attendance has improved. We thank the Edward Ederaine Global Foundation for this rare and impactful intervention,” she said.
Also speaking, a Primary Four pupil of the school, beamed with smiles as he shared his gratitude. “Thank you, Okakuro Edward, for the food. I like the rice. God will bless you for helping us.”

Several teachers and members of the Umiaghwa community who witnessed the event praised the foundation’s commitment to community development and child welfare. They noted that the consistent presence of the foundation has not only encouraged pupils to remain in school but has also eased the financial burden on parents struggling to provide daily meals for their wards.

Since its inception, the Edward Ederaine Global Foundation has implemented various community-focused programs, ranging from employment of Adhoc teachers, provision of educational materials such as notebooks, school bags, text books, computers etc.

The foundation’s presence in Okpe LGA has been particularly notable for its sustainability and people-centered approach.

The visit by Okakuro Ederaine has not only reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to its mission but has also sparked hope among community members that more developmental projects would reach the hinterlands.

As the day wrapped up with songs and cheers from grateful pupils, it was evident that the gesture had gone far beyond food—it had fed the spirit of an entire community.
