Two Years in Office: Harrison Ekeleme Hails Oborevwori’s Monumental Strides in Delta.

Harrison Ekeleme, Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilization to His Excellency on Youth Mobilization has lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his transformative leadership and commitment to infrastructural development in Delta State. 

In a statement released to Sapele Mirror News, Ekeleme expressed admiration for the governor's achievements, stating, “Governor Oborevwori has turned Delta into a vast construction site, with over 513 road projects spanning more than 1,300 kilometers and 950 kilometers of drainage infrastructure. This is unprecedented in the state's history, with lots of road constructions going on. 

Highlighting specific projects, Harrison Ekeleme noted the ongoing construction of three flyovers and road expansion works in Warri and Effurun, executed by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.  “These projects, valued at ₦78 billion, are set to redefine the urban landscape and boost economic activities in the region, the over 10 roads constructed in Sapele and the road projects in Orerokpe and it's environs is something we should be glad of", he said.

Beyond infrastructure, Ekeleme commended the governor's focus on human capital development.  “The administration's initiative, such as the D-CARES programme, has provided financial assistance to over 250,000 Deltans, including the elderly and people with disabilities.  Additionally, the MORE Grant Scheme and WESAP has empowered thousands of traders, artisans, and women entrepreneurs,” he remarked.  

In the education sector, Ekeleme praised the renovation of dilapidated schools and the establishment of new institutions. “The operationalization of the College of Health Technology in Ovrode and the College of Health Sciences at Southern Delta University, Ozoro, showcases the administration's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities,” he noted. 

Ekeleme also highlighted the administration's efforts in healthcare, citing the renovation and equipping of over 150 primary healthcare centres across the state.  “The acquisition of modern medical equipment, including MRI machines and CT scanners, has significantly improved healthcare delivery in Delta,” he said.  

Addressing fiscal responsibility, Ekeleme applauded Governor Oborevwori's prudent financial management.  “Despite the massive infrastructural projects, the administration has not borrowed a kobo.  Instead, it has paid off debts exceeding ₦300 billion, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable governance,” he stated.

Speaking accordingly Ekeleme said that, the compassionate governor for all Deltans, has unanimously approved the payment of 15,000 to 10,000 widows monthly. He prayed to God to endow him with strength and more wisdom to pilot the state to an  enviable height.

Ekeleme further emphasized the governor's inclusive approach to development. “From the riverine communities of Warri South West to the upland areas of Ndokwa East, every part of Delta State is feeling the impact of this administration's developmental strides,” he asserted.  

Concluding his remarks, Ekeleme urged Deltans to continue supporting Governor Oborevwori's vision. “With the MORE Agenda as a guiding principle, Delta State is on a trajectory of unprecedented growth and prosperity.  We must all rally behind this transformative leadership,” he said. 

Governor Oborevwori's administration, inaugurated on May 29, 2023, has been characterized by a commitment to Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security, encapsulated in the MORE Agenda.  As the state marks two years under his leadership, stakeholders like Ekeleme affirm that Delta is witnessing a renaissance in governance and development.
