As Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, marks his second year in office, accolades have continued to pour in from across the state and the diaspora, with Okakuro Edward Ederaine, a notable philanthropist and former President-General of the Okpe Union North America, commending the governor for what he described as “unprecedented development, visionary leadership, and inclusive governance.”
Okakuro Ederaine, who is also the founder and president of the Ederaine Global Foundation, lauded Governor Oborevwori’s achievements in infrastructure, education, health, and social development, noting that the governor’s More Agenda is not just a campaign slogan but a tangible reality across the state. According to him, Delta State has witnessed massive growth under the stewardship of Governor Oborevwori.
In a statement issued from his base, and made available to Sapele Mirror News, Ederaine said, “Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated true leadership with results. Within two years, we’ve seen roads constructed, schools improved, healthcare strengthened, and job opportunities expanded. His administration has been focused, responsive, and people-oriented.”
The philanthropist emphasized the importance of consistency in governance, commending the governor for continuing and completing projects initiated by his predecessor, Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa. “That alone shows maturity, political wisdom, and a strong commitment to Delta State’s long-term development,” he added.
Ederaine, who has spent the last decade supporting educational development in Nigeria through his foundation, drew parallels between the governor’s passion for human capital development and his own efforts. His foundation has donated notebooks, textbooks, computers, school bags, chairs, and tables to several schools and organizations across Delta State and beyond.
“Investing in the youth and education is the key to a sustainable future. Governor Oborevwori understands this and has prioritized technical education, skill acquisition, and infrastructure in learning institutions,” Ederaine said, while urging other leaders in the region to emulate such forward-thinking leadership.
Citing several flagship projects such as the construction of the Maryam Babangida Film Village and Leisure Park, upgrades in the Warri, Sapele, Orerokpe township roads, and revamping of technical colleges, Ederaine noted that the Oborevwori administration has laid the groundwork for a modern Delta. He expressed optimism that the governor would consolidate on these gains in the remaining years of his tenure.
He further called on Deltans, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally behind the governor in his drive to transform the state. “We all have a role to play. Whether you are in Sapele, Orerokpe, Asaba, Warri, or diaspora, supporting the state’s development should be a collective responsibility,” he said.
Okakuro Ederaine also used the opportunity to announce his foundation’s upcoming education initiative targeted at underprivileged children in Delta State, stating that his commitment to grassroots development remains unshaken. He assured that the foundation would continue working hand-in-hand with the government and other stakeholders to ensure no child is left behind.
As Governor Oborevwori's second anniversary is celebrated across the state, voices like Okakuro Ederaine’s continue to underscore the growing support and recognition of the administration’s achievements.
For many, the past two years have been a testament to purposeful leadership and the promise of a brighter future for Delta State.
