The Chairman of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Deacon Joseph Otirhue, has joined millions of Nigerians to celebrate the 2025 Children’s Day, describing children as the pride and joy of every society.
Hon. Otirhue made this known in a goodwill message on Tuesday, May 27, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, where he emphasized the critical role children play in the development of the state and the nation at large.
He noted that Children’s Day is not only a moment of celebration, but, also a time to reflect on the responsibilities of society in securing the future of young Nigerians.
According to the Otirhue, “Children are the greatest gift to mankind. They are the source of joy in every home, and they hold the keys to our collective future. As we celebrate them today, we must also renew our commitment to giving them the care, protection, and education they deserve.”
Hon. Otirhue urged parents, guardians, and leaders at all levels to invest in the total well-being of children, stressing that a healthy and educated child population translates to a prosperous future for Delta State and Nigeria.
He said, “Beyond the festivities, let us reflect on how we can build a safer, more inclusive society for our children. We must address the issues of child abuse, neglect, and out-of-school children with the seriousness they demand.”
While commending Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his administration’s ongoing efforts in improving basic education and child welfare in the state, Otirhue called on stakeholders in the education sector to sustain the momentum.
As the nation marks this year’s Children’s Day, Otirhue calls for unity of purpose among government officials, civil society, and the private sector in creating an environment where every child can thrive.
