Principal Lauds Delta Govt's Impact On Education....As Zappa Mixed Secondary School Holds 9th Annual Inter-House Sports/Cultural Competition

The Delta State Government has been commended for its achievements in the education system, especially for creating a conducive learning environment for teaching and learning.
The Principal of Zappa Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Roseline Enejeta Ogbokor , who gave the commendation during their 9th Annual Inter-House sports Competition/ Cultural Day Celebration, expressed gratitude to Asaba National Association based in USA led by Hon. Kennedy Okafor for providing 100 three in one seater desk and '88" Club of Asaba for purchasing Public Address System for the school.
Ogbokor said that the annual inter house sports competition was an avenue for the children to actualize their potentials and earn good means of livelihood and described sports as an integral part of formal education.
She explained that sporting activities were important in the intellectual development, moral and social values of a child, affirming that helps in skill acquisition, psychological and physiology development and emotional wellness.
Ogbokor noted that sports helps in creating a platform for healthy competition among students, promoting the spirit of sportsmanship abs discipline, and exploring the students' strengths and talents.
The Principal solicited support from the state government, parents and well-meaning individuals to enable the school cater for some of her needs such as the provision of science laboratory, examination hall , construction of additional classroom blocks to reduce congestion in the school and deployment of more teachers in core subject areas.
She lauded the parents, teachers and students of the school for their continued support and stressed the need for them to sustain their commitment towards driving the school to greater heights.
Ogbokor , however, described culture as a way of life of a people living together in an area or an enclave, irrespective of their behaviour, values and their believe system and told the people that most of their cultural heritage would be displayed by the students through dance, songs , fashion and other presentations.
She said that the presentations would help the people to appreciate their cultural identities and asserted that no culture is superior to another.
The 9th Annual Inter-House sports Competition of the school was attended by a great number of principals in Asaba.
