Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe, Oghara marked a significant academic milestone with it's inaugural lecture on Thursday, March 13th, 2025.
The thought provoking lecture with it's theme: Odyssey To Transparency & Accountability: Leverage Value For Money, Audit For Efficient Resource Management in Nigeria's Public Sector was delivered by Dr Joseph Ufuoma Nana, an esteemed Chief lecturer in the Department of Accountancy.
The event which was held at the Chief James Onanefe Ibori Auditorium attracted a distinguished audience of academics, Royal Fathers, policy makers, politicians, chiefs, students and special guests.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri declared the ceremony open as Dr. Joseph Ufuoma Nana presentation offered a unique analysis of how individuals can get value for their money, while laying emphasis on transparency and accountability.
In his address, Prof. Biri gave accolades to the inaugural lecturer and thank His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State for his good work in Delta State and the Polytechnic.
Speaking further, Prof. Biri advocated that the Technical rank of Chief Lecturers be changed to Associate Professor and students be awarded Bachelor Of Technology in Polytechnics.
In continuation, Prof. Biri said that the 3rd inaugural lecture is yet another significant milestone in the academic development of the institution, adding that the polytechnic would continue to hold inaugural lectures with the support of the governing council and management. He went on to say that more departments have been approved for the polytechnic and that Higher National Diploma For Mass Communication has come into reality.
