Prof Biri Bags Rector of the Year Award

The Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara Prof Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri has bagged the Rector of the Year Award at the Delta Role Model Award, DREAMS 2024. The award ceremony held at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park, Asaba had in attendance the Executive Governor of Delta, H.E. Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Deputy Speaker of State House of Assembly,  Olorogun Barr Arthur Akpowowo and other top government functionaries. 
The Delta Role Model Award, DREAMS 2024 organised  by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism in conjuction with the African Child Foundation is aimed at honoring, appreciating and encouraging Deltans and non Deltans for their contributions to the growth of the state and humanity. 
The elated Rector speaking to newsmen after the ceremony stated that the award is a valid judgment and appraisal of the excellent work taking place in the Polytechnic. Prof Biri stated that the Polytechnic fuel-less generator invention is receiving recognition from all over the globe given the number of persons and institutions  that have indicated interest to partner with the Polytechnic. The Rector further stated that the award is an assignment that will propel him and his team to do more. Prof Biri dedicate the award to his family, staff and students of the Polytechnic.
Other recipients of the Delta 2024 Role Model Award were Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Former Governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, CON, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Limited, High Chief Kestin Pondi, Oil and Gas mogul, Jeremi Sholaye,  among eminent Deltans.

DTSG Shifts BECE , Reschedules Examinations Commencement Date To  Monday, June 16 By Magnus Emuji  The 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) , earlier scheduled to begin from June 9 to June 13 for both public and private secondary schools in Delta State has been shifted to a new date . A statement from the Functioning Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Daniel Akiri, on behalf of the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu said that the would now commence from June 16 to June 20. Edwin Clark dies at 97 Former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South Leader, Edwin Clark, is de@d. According to a statement released by his family, the chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF died on Monday night,February 17. He was 97 years old.  The statement read,  “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday 17th February , 2025.’’ Born in Kiagbodo, in the Ijaw area of what is now Delta State, late Clark attended primary and secondary schools at Effurun, Okrika and Afugbene before completing further studies at the Government Teacher Training College, which later became Delta State University, Abraka. Thereafter, he worked briefly as a school teacher before traveling abroad to earn a law degree.
