Perkins Umukoro Distributes 50,000 Notebooks Amongst Public Primary Schools in Sapele.

In a bid to promote education, encourage children to learn and relieve parents from the entire burden of providing writing materials for their ward, the member representing Sapele Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Okakuro Perkins Umukoro, Chief Whip of the House has distributed 50,000 notebooks to seven primary schools in his constituency area on Friday, September 20th, 2024.
The beneficiary schools are Urhiapele primary school, Bishop Johnson primary school, Omashola primary school, Abeke primary school, Ethiope Primary School, Amukpe, Omarin primary school and Abbot primary school.
Speaking during the presentation of notebooks to the pupils at the various school, Hon. Perkins Umukoro said he decided to give out notebooks to pupils in a bid to assist their parents considering the high cost of living.
Speaking further, he said; "during my days in primary school, as a pupils, I also received such kind gestures from people in my era who came to distributes free notebooks to us and encouraged us to learn, I am doing the same today, so that in future, you all can do the same. My prayer is that you all would be great in life and do better than myself, I am giving out half a dozen to each pupils today, in future you will give out dozens and more.
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori is interested in education and the welfare of children's education, hence he has empowered me to support your education today. His administration will continue to do more to assist pupils he added.
"The pupils who could not bottle their joy, with their faces beaming with smile, began to sing, " Governor Sheriff thank you sir, oga Perkins thank you sir".
The Headmistress of the different primary school amongst whom were Mrs Onuwa Joy, Urhiapele Primary School, Mrs Eriomala Mary.O. Bishop Johnson Primary School, Mrs Salami Joyce Osioh, Abeke Primary School, Mrs Okotie Josephine, Ethiope Primary School,Amukpe, Mrs Akonu Mercy Oritsegbubemi, Omarin Primary School, and Mrs Igedebor Justina, Abbot Primary School were not left out, as they thanked the Honourable member for choosing their school as beneficiary schools for the Sheriff/Perkins Foundation Educational Empowerment program. They noted that some of the pupils only had two notebooks in their bags, in a situation were they are expected to have at least six, and God in his infinite love has sent Hon. Perkins Umukoro to fill in the gap by distributing the exact number of notebooks needed by the pupils.
