Motorists and residents of Sapele Local Government Area have expressed their gratitude to Chairman Hon. Bright Abeke for his swift intervention in addressing the deplorable state of the Amukpe Roundabout.
The roundabout, a critical intersection connecting several major roads, had become a nightmare for motorists due to its poor condition, with massive potholes and craters causing traffic congestion, accidents, and damage to vehicles.
Responding to the plight of the people, Chairman Abeke mobilized his team and resources to commence emergency palliative repairs on the road. The repair works, which began last week, aim to provide a temporary solution to the problem while a more permanent solution is being worked out by the state or federal government.
Motorists who ply the route have praised the Chairman's timely intervention. "We are grateful to Chairman Abeke for coming to our rescue," said Mr. Ufuoma Eugene, a daily commuter. "The road's condition was becoming unbearable, and we were worried about accidents. We thank the Chairman for his prompt action."
Another motorist, Mr. Frank Okiemute, expressed similar sentiments. "Chairman Abeke has shown he cares about his people's welfare. We were surprised by the swift repair works after our complaints. We commend him for his efforts and urge him to continue."
The repair works involve filling potholes and craters with white sharp sand and stone base, as well as asphalt. Chairman Abeke assured that the repairs will be completed soon to minimize traffic disruptions.
Speaking to newsmen, Abeke emphasized his administration's commitment to providing quality infrastructure. "Good roads are crucial to our area's economic and social development," he said. "We will work hard to ensure our roads are safe and motorable, and we urge the people to bear with us as we address the challenges facing our area.
