Otefe Polytechnic holds 22nd Orientation Day for New Students

In line with the academic culture in a polytechnic and a bid to officially welcome, introduce and inculcate into the newly admitted students the rules and regulations guiding their stay in Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe, Oghara, Delta State, the Polytechnic management held a one day orientation program for the 2023/2024 Academic Session.
 
The ceremony was chaired by the Rector, Professor Emmanuel Ufophu-Biri along with other members of the management.

Declaring the ceremony open, Dr Ighere Jacob the Deputy Rector who was holding brief for the Rector spoke on why students must focus on education and abstain from drugs which has metamorphosed into another dimension in society.
Guest speaker and Resource person amongst whom are Mr Efedi Chukwuemeke, Registrar, Amb. Lucas Onorigho, Bursar, Prof Mrs Amina Blessing Akporhonor, Liberian, Mr Akanmu A. A., Mr Samuel Enudi, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Adaeze B. Ogude, Director of Gender & Skill Acquisition, Engr Charles Ufuah, HOD Electricity Electronics, Dr. S. Abolokor, ICT Director, Mr Scott Ogini, Chairman Examination Malpractice Committee, Dr Okoro Ferdinand, Director SIWESS, Dr Agbomah Dennis, Director Entrepreneurship Development Center, Mr Lucky Ogele, Chief Security Officer amongst others spoke on various topic to orient the students. The orientation program focus on drug intake, drug abuse, way out of drugs, personal security, expectation from students, school fees, the use of library and it's importance, skills for examination success, need for skill acquisition, saying no to cultism, avoiding malpractice, IT program, indecent address ectera
The Rector, Prof. Emmanuel Ufophu-Biri urged the freshers to strive for academic excellence and put enough strength and vigor into their studies to yield positive result, adding that "Education is a visa to success and investment".
The event was rounded up with drama and joke from special team in the polytechnic campus.
