In a vibrant celebration of a life well-lived and a lasting legacy, an array of friends, family, and distinguished individuals from various spheres of society gathered to bid their final farewells to late Mrs. Agnes Evemebruke Ederaine. The mother of renowned philanthropist and esteemed Okpe Chief, Okakuro Edward Ederaine, who passed away earlier this year, and her son orchestrated a memorable event to lay her to rest.
The funeral proceedings commenced on Thursday, October 5, 2023, with a soul-stirring service of song held at the former Okpe Union President General, North America's mother's residence in Orerokpe. The location, situated within the Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, provided a fitting backdrop for the gathering of industry leaders, clergy, politicians, and prominent members of society who came to pay their respects.
Following the poignant service of song, attendees moved to Mrs. Ederaine's residence in Ogiedi, where a heartfelt homily and interment took place. The atmosphere was filled with a mix of tears and celebratory expressions, all serving to commemorate a life that had left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her.
The immense gathering then transitioned to an opulent reception hosted at Adane Primary School in Orerokpe, the administrative center of the Okpe Local Government Area. The venue provided a fitting space for the collective gathering, allowing them to further honor Mrs. Ederaine's life while providing an opportunity for fellowship and support.
Chief Ederaine, during an interview with journalists at the event, spoke warmly of his mother, describing her as the "epitome of motherhood." He fondly recalled the evolution of their relationship, which transformed from a typical mother-son dynamic, into one of friendship and mutual business partnership. Chief Ederaine expressed his deep love for his late mother and acknowledged the significant void her passing would leave in his life.

Comrade Isreal Otomewo, President of the Okpe Youth Council, attended the event alongside other executive members. Comrade Otomewo acknowledged Chief Ederaine's substantial contributions to the growth of the Okpe kingdom and offered prayers for the strength to endure this irreparable loss.
Pastor John Okperuvwe, the current president of Okpe Union in North America, graced the occasion with his presence. He emphasized that the assembly had congregated to pay their last respects because Mrs. Ederaine had been a mother figure to all. Pastor Okperuvwe advised the bereaved family to preserve the honorable legacy left behind by their mother, fostering unity within their ranks.
