In a vibrant celebration of a life well-lived and a lasting legacy, an array of friends, family, and distinguished individuals from various spheres of society gathered to bid their final farewells to late Mrs. Agnes Evemebruke Ederaine. The mother of renowned philanthropist and esteemed Okpe Chief, Okakuro Edward Ederaine, who passed away earlier this year, and her son orchestrated a memorable event to lay her to rest.

The funeral proceedings commenced on Thursday, October 5, 2023, with a soul-stirring service of song held at the former Okpe Union President General, North America's mother's residence in Orerokpe. The location, situated within the Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, provided a fitting backdrop for the gathering of industry leaders, clergy, politicians, and prominent members of society who came to pay their respects.

Following the poignant service of song, attendees moved to Mrs. Ederaine's residence in Ogiedi, where a heartfelt homily and interment took place. The atmosphere was filled with a mix of tears and celebratory expressions, all serving to commemorate a life that had left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her. 

The immense gathering then transitioned to an opulent reception hosted at Adane Primary School in Orerokpe, the administrative center of the Okpe Local Government Area. The venue provided a fitting space for the collective gathering, allowing them to further honor Mrs. Ederaine's life while providing an opportunity for fellowship and support.

Chief Ederaine, during an interview with journalists at the event, spoke warmly of his mother, describing her as the "epitome of motherhood." He fondly recalled the evolution of their relationship, which transformed from a typical mother-son dynamic, into one of friendship and mutual business partnership. Chief Ederaine expressed his deep love for his late mother and acknowledged the significant void her passing would leave in his life.

When questioned about the overwhelming attendance at the farewell ceremony, Chief Ederaine responded with gratitude, recognizing that people recognized his identity and appreciated his extensive contributions over the years. Regardless of social standing, he considered all those in attendance as friends, expressing his heartfelt appreciation for their presence and invoking divine blessings upon them.

Mr. Austin Ayemidejor, a former Commissioner in the state and a notable figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), extended his condolences to Chief Ederaine. He emphasized Chief Ederaine's substantial contributions to the Okpe kingdom and offered prayers for strength in coping with the loss of his beloved mother.

Okakuro Joseph Aboze, the President General of Okpe Union worldwide, conveyed his condolences to Chief Ederaine and encouraged him to find solace in the understanding that divine wisdom governed his mother's departure. Aboze further implored Chief Ederaine to remain steadfast, as his resilience would inspire those who looked up to him.

Mr. Sunday Emami, speaking on behalf of the Umiagwa community, acknowledged Chief Ederaine as a pillar of support in their collective pursuit of various goals. The community's presence served as a powerful testament to their solidarity with a brother who had consistently stood by them in times of need.

Comrade Isreal Otomewo, President of the Okpe Youth Council, attended the event alongside other executive members. He affirmed their presence as an endorsement of Chief Ederaine's unwavering commitment to the Okpe people and the council. Comrade Otomewo acknowledged Chief Ederaine's substantial contributions to the growth of the Okpe kingdom and offered prayers for the strength to endure this irreparable loss.

Pastor John Okperuvwe, the current president of Okpe Union in North America, graced the occasion with his presence. He emphasized that the assembly had congregated to pay their last respects because Mrs. Ederaine had been a mother figure to all. Pastor Okperuvwe advised the bereaved family to preserve the honorable legacy left behind by their mother, fostering unity within their ranks.

The event served as a testament to the profound impact Mrs. Agnes Evemebruke Ederaine had on the lives of those fortunate enough to have encountered her. It was evident that her influence would endure through the remarkable endeavors of her son, Chief Ederaine, ensuring the perpetuation of her distinguished legacy.
