Elume district jubilates as Felix Emuobonuvie is sworn in as new President General.

Elume district - Rhythm of music, ecstatic jubilation rocks the air at Elume in a ceremony that drew the attendance of dignitaries with political affiliation, youth leaders, community leaders, women, all of Delta origin in Nigeria on Thursday, September 14th, 2023 as Mr Samuel Ejimevwo Ikoyo handed over the baton of leadership to Mr Felix Emuobonuvie.
Stepping into the shoes of his predecessor, Mr Felix Emuobonuvie emerged as the President General of Elume district after an election that was conducted on Saturday, August 12th, 2023 with nineteen communities which makes up Elume district participating in the electoral process.
The swearing in ceremony was celebrated with grandeur and enthusiasm with the newly formed executives team comprising of illustrious sons of Elume who are devoted and dedicated to the welfare and progress of Elume district holding the various positions as follows; Vice President, Mr James Edjor, Secretary General, Mr Tennyson Akpofunure, Treasurer, Mr Jimoh Lawrence, Mr Godstime Eyuro, Financial Secretary, Mr Godwin Toweshi, Social Secretary, Mr James Okoro, Assistant Secretary, Mr Abel Akpobasa, Auditor, Mr Alex Oluwasa, Disciplinary Officer, and Mr Victor Ukueje, Public Relations Officer, dancing to melodious music to celebrate their victory.
Responding to the call of duty, the newly sworn in President General, Mr Felix Emuobonuvie, expressed his unwavering commitment to action, with a determination to surpass the records set by his predecessor.
In his speech, Felix Emuobonuvie said, "I thank Almighty God for his grace and for the fair weather, I thank my leader and mentor Chief Hon Julius Egbedi and Hon Francis Okpigben for their support and mentorship. I also thank the people of Elume district who has elected me to be their President General, I want to assure them of my devotion to serve and carry everyone along".
Speaking further, the President General said, "Elume district has 19 communities and I want to let the people who make up this communities that they will all be carried along, they will greatly benefit from my administration".
" My administration will look at some of the challenges facing the people of Elume and we will try as much as possible to find a lasting solution to the problem. I will consult my elders, community chairman and my executive before taking decisions as it affects Elume district. We will run an all inclusive government", he said.
Honourable member representing Sapele, Okpe and Ethiope West Local Government Areas on the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief Julius Egbedi while congratulating the newly sworn in executives said, "This is a new administration and the people of Elume are looking up to them to give their best, they should be devoted to the affairs of Elume to ensure positive development for the people that they represent and ensure that everyone is carried along irrespective of party affiliation".
Elume district has always been peaceful, I enjoin them to maintain the peace by running a peaceful government and ensure that Elume district remains one of the most formidable district in Sapele Local Government Area.
Former President General of Elume district, Hon Francis Okpigben on his part said, "this is a big win for the people of Elume, I want to enjoin the newly elected officers not to break the trust of those who have voted for them and work assiduously, they should endeavour to put a smile on the face of those that they will be representing. I wish them a peaceful administration, because without peace, development becomes impossible, as I urge them to work in unity which is a very key factor to their successful reign".
Former vice president of Elume district, Mr Andrew Agbofodobo who also spoke to newsmen describe the handing over process as peaceful, while noting that Elume district elections and handing over ceremony has always been peaceful from the time of Hon Francis Okpigben till date.
