DESOPADEC: Julius Egbedi inspects intervention work in Sapele.

The Member Representing Sapele, Okpe and Ethiope West Local Government Areas on the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Julius Egbedi on Monday, August 28th, 2023 inspected on going work on evacuation of drains and debris by DESOPADEC at Ferdison by Ogbimi drive, Oduduru. 

The workers have been to reclamation, commercial avenue, new road, urhakpa, ugberikoko road, and oton, opening drainages to water ways and soon they are expected to be at ojulu soon to stop the impending storm water flood in different areas in Sapele.

Hon Julius Egbedi went round the various sites, commending the various workers for the quality of work been done.

Addressing news men, the Honourable member said; "What we are trying to do is ameliorate the suffering of the people, reduce the effect of the flood, and prevent the damaging of properties. 

With the opening of the drainages, the water will easily flow to the river and avert the flood, with these opening, whenever it rains, it will go straight to the river. 

We have been to reclaimation, commercial avenue, new road, Ghana by urhakpa, ugberikoko road, and Oton. We will be going to Ojulu to continue with the opening of drainages.
I will appeal to the Chairman and Managing Director of the Board to give us two more days to enable us do a thorough job to finish. 

With what we have done so far, when it rains the place will not be flooded because there is an exit point, he said.

In continuation, he said, "the intervention was timely in view of the impending flood envisaged in the months as predicted by NIMET, and Delta State was among the States mentioned to be prone to the likely serious flooding. 

Engr Churchill, a resident at ogbimi drive, close to Ferdison Oduduru road said, "we were so happy when we saw swamp buggy, I am very happy that they are cleaning the canals, with these the water will flow and flood will be averted. I have sensitize residents of my area to avoid throwing waste into the canals as these are some of the reasons why the flood has been on.

In the team of the DESOPADEC Commission include Hon Jubilee Akufo, Hon Clifford Ishuni, amongst others.
